At Agape Christian Academy the quality of learning is very important to us.  We enjoy teaching students about God, along with academic achievement. We believe that all children are born with gifts from God. Proverbs 18:15-17  says “A man's gift   makes room for him, and brings him before great men”.  Our philosophy for learning is, “each child is unique and learn in their own creative way.” Our job is to help children discover his or her individuality in learning and maximize it to enhance their future.

2-3 Year Old Preschool Class

Our 2 and 3 year-old programs are designed to help children develop a positive attitude toward learning through creative play and academic instruction.  Our focus is to encourage independence  and socialization by participating in teacher-directed activities in a loving Christian environment.

Transitional Kindergarten

Our Transitional Kindergarten program is a specialized class for children who are four years old and will turn five during the school year and those who are three years old and will turn four before December 31st.  It is designed to be a bridge between preschool and Kindergarten or a bridge between Kindergarten and first grade.  The function is to provide our students with time to develop the fundamental skills needed for success in school in an age - and developmentally appropriate setting.  The students will receive quarterly report progress reports and report cards in order to document their strengths as well as their academic growth.

                                                  GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Socialization

Socialization is one of the most important skills learned in early childhood. In the programs, our teachers guide the children in activities that promote self-awareness and positive self-image. They also focus on developing awareness of feelings of others and the importance of sharing through teaching Christian values.

Cognitive Development

Cognitive development refers to an individual's abilities to gain meaning and knowledge from experiences and information.  It's how we think about, process and communicate new information. It also involves how we apply new information to previously acquired knowledge. During this school year, the children will grow, their thinking skills will vastly improve. They will be equipped with ways to think and express themselves on higher levels. The amount of growth you will see in your child during this school year will be extraordinary.

Intellectual Development

This is your child's opportunity to explore their environment in a school setting. The children are encouraged to experiment and discover using their senses by listening to instructions and following directions.   Our teachers promote development of self-help skills through age appropriate activities, such as crafts, puzzles, and sorting games that result in a sense of achievement.

Physical Development

Development of gross motor skills is extremely important in early childhood and it is essential for further development of fine motor skills. Our teachers help facilitate the development and coordination of gross motor skills through daily circle activities that include songs and movement routines. Fine motor development is exercised during craft time using scissors, crayons, markers and paint. During class, children are encouraged to discover joy in movement while being aware of limits and safety factors and to demonstrate expressive growth through movement.

Spiritual Growth

It is important to encourage spiritual growth in our students.  We do this by allowing the children to hold and see the Bible as others read from it. Singing, and moving to children Christian songs, saying Bible verses, allowing them to hear simple, clear stories from the Bible, especially stories that emphasize the goodness of God, the love of Jesus for children, and Jesus as friend and helper. and saying simple prayers and hearing teachers and parents pray about thankfulness and about people in need.  Children will also be taught how to express love and other feelings for family, friends and most importantly, for Jesus.
